EPD International Systems

A Responsible Global EPD
Operator

The International EPD® System is open for EPD registration and publication from all countries. Please note that due to current or future sanctions against regimes e.g. prompted by the United Nations, the European Union or others, we reserve the right to and may have to decline EPD registrations from selected countries.

Responsibility is a key

EPD International AB also reserves the right to exclude selected product category groups resp. decline the registration and publication of EPDs for products and services that can either be classified as a) controversial weapons (e.g. cluster bombs, nuclear warheads, a.s.o) or b) indisputably harmful products.

Please contact our local, international partners from your territory (location of organization willing to publish an EPD) and/or the EPD Secretariat in Sweden before preparing EPD(s) in case of any doubts.

All EPDs registered via our licensees are automatically registered with the International EPD® System.

Harmonization and internationalization

The International EPD® System is actively engaging in strategic partnerships with private and public actors.

With our strategic engagements we work hard to:

  • Define the level playing field regards legal and market regulation for EPDs

  • Enforce full harmonisation with our peer EPD programme operators

  • Develop new business opportunities and service offerings in existing and new markets

  • Strengthen and position EPD International’s EPD brand in the market

Strategic partnerships with e.g. our valued licensees, peer EPD programme operators, public and private actors and initiatives (national, regional, sectoral, etc.) help us in promoting and anchoring the EPD as a pool of verified data and its use in various applications and scenarios.

We actively promote our programme internationally via:

  • International partners (licensees), who are fully aligned and compatible with our International EPD® System. In selected territories our licensees offer tailored EPD services such as a national EPD helpdesk, EPD registration, and promote the International EPD® System to relevant stakeholders

  • Bilateral and (soonish) Multilateral Recognition Agreements with selected peers to offer voluntary dual registration
of EPDs

  • International collaboration and lobbying platforms (e.g. ECO Platform and InData)
