Verified data on the social sustainability performance of the product life cycle.
In a pilot project, the world's first SPD has been published by Hitachi Rail.
The SPD was published on November 6th, 2023, and presents transparent and verified data on the social sustainability performance of a rolling stock, from its production to its end-of-life.
Just as an EPD is based on a verified (environmental) LCA, an SPD is based on a verified social LCA (S-LCA).
The SPD is based on the world's first Product Category Rules for SPDs, with registration number SPD-PCR 2023:01.
